DIGITAL SPY - 29/08/2023

The horror movie premieres in October at the BFI London Film Festival.

Matt Smith is coming back to our screens in supernatural horror Starve Acre, and we've now got a first look at the new movie.

Set in rural England in the 1970s, the movie stars Smith and Morfydd Clark as Richard and Juliette whose idyllic family life is thrown into turmoil when their son starts acting out of character.

Richard begins to explore the myth that the ancient oak tree at their remote family home, Starve Acre, is imbued with phenomenal powers. But the couple soon find themselves dealing with dark and sinister forces they unwittingly allowed into their home.

Starve Acre will receive its world premiere in competition at the BFI London Film Festival, running October 4-15. A UK release date in cinemas has yet to be confirmed.

Starve Acre is one of 11 movies picked for this year's Official Competition at the BFI London Film Festival, with the winner picked by the LFF Awards Juries and announced on the final day of the festival.
